If you’re in the market for a classic car, you might have your heart set on the obvious, but what about the cars which are likely to gain significant value in the future? Those vehicles are the ones to buy now, because while they might not feel quite as desirable as the Ferrari Testarossa you’ve always had your heart set on, their current low price should result in a fabulous investment. In this blog, we’ve picked out six classics we think you should consider before it’s too late. We’ve not offered guide pricing below, but trust us - when you start researching, you’ll be amazed by the bargains to be had.
Combining American muscle and Italian design flair, the De Tomaso Deauville is far more affordable than other cars of its ilk. It features the same Ford 351 Cleveland V8 that can be found in the Pantera and with only 244 made, this is sure to become a highly sought-after classic in the future.
It might not seem that way now, but the 1990 Range Rover is rather undervalued. This is pretty much where the world’s love affair for the drivable, attractive and incredibly capable British icon started, and if you can find a decent example, it’ll become one hell of a collector’s item.
Who wouldn’t want a drop-dead gorgeous British GT car with the performance to match? This Lotus features boxy, curvy styling that sets it apart from virtually any other Lotus we can think of, and is therefore a memorable car from its period. Just make sure you take a knowledgeable pair of hands with you to give any example a thorough check over.
While perhaps not the most beautiful Maserati in existence (although beauty really is in the eye of the beholder), the Quattroporte (and, particularly, the Evoluzione version) can be had for a tidy sum, be it in V6 or V8 form. And there’s nothing like the knowledge that you actually own a Maserati, is there?
This motor doesn’t really need an introduction, granted, but it remains a surprisingly affordable classic car. It’s the standard, non-competition version you want to look out for, and despite their quirks, they still manage to offer that addictive turbo spool’d, back road fun…
Dispense with any thoughts about Del Boy or dodgy 80s salespeople - the Ford Capri is simply an awesome classic car, and is often referred to as a ‘mini Mustang’ for good reason. Granted, there are lots of expensive examples out there, but they’re matched by far more affordable versions, whose value should rise considerably over time. Get in there while you still can!
