At Silverstone Classic and Race Car Storage, we witness a huge range of cars that pass through our massive, impenetrable doors and into safe hibernation. So many, in fact, that we tend to lose count of the many stunning makes and models that we get to feast our eyes on every day. With that in mind, we thought we’d take this opportunity to refresh our own memory, but also give you an insight into the types of motor we look after for our customers. The four vehicles below couldn’t be more different, but provide a brilliant insight into the stories our customers have to tell.
Just before Christmas we delivered this fabulous Mercedes SL to its owner in Scotland. Having been stored with us for a period of time, the lucky owners wanted their pride and joy back for the festive period (who wouldn’t?), before returning it to safe storage. When the car came back to us, we ensured it was treated to a full valet before putting it back in the facility. That isn’t all we did, though. This SL had both a hard and soft top, and we knew that if the latter remained folded away, it would develop creases while in storage. That’s why you can see the soft top fully engaged in the photo above. In our climate-controlled environment, this ensures that no creases can develop.
Lots of the cars we store see plenty of use when with their owners and have covered some serious mileage as a result. Others are of the classic variety and, while they may not have a huge number of miles on the clock, have lived incredibly long lives. And then, there’s cars like this stunning Porsche 911, which was delivered to us brand new and with just thirty miles on the clock. It’ll now remain in safe automotive stasis until required, ensuring that it is still brand new when it exits the facility.
Who doesn’t love a Mini? We do, which is why we always jump at the chance to look after any example of Britain’s most famous car. The lovely little Cooper pictured above has been stored with us for some time and recently needed to surface in order to have it’s annual MOT. Thankfully for the owner, we can undertake this while the car is stored with us, removing yet another headache from car ownership.
We don’t just store cars! Because they’re so easy to store in significant numbers, we have plenty of customers that decide to leave their two-wheeled companions with us for either short or long periods of time. Take the two bikes above, which we’re currently keeping safe. On the left, is a lovely Yamaha RD125LC, joined on the right by a fab Honda CBX75 that has just 20,000 miles to its name.
